What to read this week 🚀

I'm Jim,

I’m a proud husband, a dad to two girls, and a multi-company founder.

After 15 years of building and breaking things, I’ve learned one truth:

Big wins don’t come from working harder. They come from better leverage.

Every Thursday, I’ll share a quick hit or two to help you scale smarter, not sweatier and finally build a business that prints cash and buys back your time.

7 AI tools every ecommerce brand needs in 2026

If you're not using AI in your ecommerce business, you're going to get left behind.

These days, you have the ability to cut content production time in half, save thousands on photoshoots, and run entire marketing programs with smaller teams if you know how to leverage AI the right way.

We just saved one brand $50k a year by replacing how they do photoshoots and video shoots with one AI tool.

But here's what most ecommerce brands get wrong about AI:

They either ignore it completely because they think it's not ready for real business, or they try every tool they see without a clear strategy.

The reality is, AI absolutely works for ecommerce. But only if you know which tools to use and how to integrate them into your actual workflow.

So I just recorded a video breaking down the 7 AI tools every ecommerce brand should be using in 2026, with live demonstrations of each one.

In this video, I reveal:

  1. How to train ChatGPT to write high-converting Meta ads in under 60 seconds
  2. The AI photo generator that turns flat lays into on-model lifestyle shots with no photoshoot
  3. How to build complete email campaigns (copy + design) in under 2 minutes with AI
  4. How to optimize for AI search (ChatGPT, Perplexity) before your competitors figure it out

We Asked AI a $50K Question. It Delivered.

When we acquired Neat™ at the end of 2023, we had no idea how much we’d learn. In 12 months, we’ve grown it from $9K/ mo to $114K/ mo - all while building in public and sharing the highs, lows, and lessons with you in real time.

This week at Neat ....

Our Shopify store had a $50,000 question.

Which products should we use to acquire NEW customers? Specially, what product gets strangers to buy from you on Instagram?

I was tired of guessing which products convert new customers. We had lots of opinions. Zero data.

So, our Head of AI, Craig, built a tool in 3 hours to answer it.

He used Lovable to vibe-code a custom analytics tool that shows exactly which products and colors first-time customers buy.

No developers. No 6-week sprint. Just AI.

Here's what we learned:

🎁 Bundles crush single products
→ 3-packs with a discount = higher conversion
→ Single shirts don't build enough trust for cold traffic
→ The "deal" makes the decision easier

🎨 Color matters more than we thought
Top colors for first orders:
→ Black (17%)
→ White (18%)
→ Mixed bundles (16%)

But here's the surprise:
Dusty Clay and Green punched above their weight.
These "unique" colors signal we're different. Customers buying them want something special.

👕 Crew neck tees = 75% of first orders
V-necks and Henleys don't acquire customers. They're retention plays.

What we're doing now:
✅ Pushing bundles in ads (not single tees)
✅ Testing Dusty Clay and Green as hero colors
✅ Using crew necks to acquire, everything else to retain

The lesson?
You don't need a huge tech budget to solve big problems. Craig gave us a $50K answer in 3 hours with AI.

What problems are you solving with AI?

Google Just Made Search Personal

Google just launched Personal Intelligence and it’s a big step toward making AI actually useful in your day-to-day.

If you’re an AI Pro or Ultra subscriber, you can now connect Gmail and Google Photos to Gemini AI. That means Search doesn’t just crawl the web - it reads the room (your inbox, your photos, your life).

  • Trip ideas pulled from your flight confirmations
  • Product suggestions based on your brand preferences and the weather
  • No need to re-explain your context every time you search

It’s opt-in, and Google swears it’s not training the model on your data. But the experience? Wildly more relevant.

Right now, it’s U.S.only and personal accounts only (not for business users yet). But the implications are clear: AI is getting way more context-aware and fast.

For anyone building a business, this is your heads-up. The way people search, discover, and make decisions online is about to shift. If you’re not building with personalization in mind, you’re already behind.
